LG Electronics has announced today its newest audio system for home entertainment. The NB5540 is a soundbar that pumps out 320W of sound through 4.1 channels and it does all this from its slim and sleek body.
The NB5540 is only 35 mm in height but the built-in Digital Analog Converter (DAC) and the Analog Class D amp promise superior HD audio output. The soundbar is said to deliver a clean and natural sound with minimal loss of detail.
The minimalist design of the NB5540 also makes it an elegant addition to the living room and the polished dark silver finish makes it a great match for the modern living space. The soundbar itself has a dimension of 102.6 (L) x 8.1 (W) x 3.5 (H) cm and it can be placed under the TV or mounted on the wall. The soundbar also comes with a subwoofer unit with matching stylings and both devices weigh in at 9.2 kg. The soundbar unit will be a perfect fit for TVs measuring 47” and above.
The devices offer wireless connectivity using LG’s Sound Sync feature via the built-in Bluetooth chip. This allows not only the TV to connect to the system, but also tablets and smartphones. Interestingly enough, the soundbar has an HDMI out port that will allow it to feed audio back to the TV if necessary. Apart from that, there’s also an HDMI in and a USB host ports for external media sources.

LG also unveiled the NB4540 system for slightly smaller TV models. The soundbar still offers the same 4.1 channels and 320W output, despite its smaller size. Sound Sync and Bluetooth connectivity are also included.
LG has not indicated the price and availability of the systems here in Malaysia but LG US has fixed the price of the NB5540 at US$599.99.
